Rural communities are celebrating grants of more than £70,000 to improve arts and recreation.
Tiptree, Wivenhoe and West Mersea will share the cash in the Rec-Create project, bringing arts, recreational activities and facilities to rural areas.
Colchester Council's leisure services has won £58,000 from the Essex Rural Renaissance fund and £15,000 from Cory Environmental Trust.
The project uses arts as a tool for countryside development, playgrounds, sports, museum outreach and tourism.
