Basildon-based professional Brian Salmon has kept his Embassy World Snooker Championship hopes alive with four fine wins in the latest stages of qualifying for the tournament at Pontin's, Prestatyn.
After three 5-3 successes over John Whitty, Paul Davison and James Reynolds, Salmon, who lives in Corringham, beat Eddie Barker 5-1.
Now he becomes one of only eight players to go through from the Challenge Tour stages of qualifying to the next level, where main tour competitors enter the fray, at Pontin's from February 10-20.
Salmon still holds the highest break prize with a 95 in the Vic Harris Snooker League where Basildon's A side are locked in a tremendous battle for supremacy with Southend's Pockets A in Division One.
