Schools minister Stephen Twigg today visited Sir Charles Lucas Art College in Colchester.
Mr Twigg, MP for Enfield, met headteacher Caroline Haynes at the school in Greenstead to discuss the graduate teacher training programme.
He also discussed education issues with chairman of governors Brian Gant and student teacher Mark Bouckley before going on a tour of the school.
Ms Haynes said: "I had heard him speak at a conference and liked what he had to say.
"I invited him to the school to discuss ongoing eduation issues and we have had a really good, professional discussion."
