It's a big school and it's going places! That was the promise of Caroline Haynes, the next principal of Tendring Technology College.
Current principal of the school, Mike Watson, is due to retire early in September after more than 20 years at the helm.
His successor is Ms Haynes, 45, who has been headteacher of Sir Charles Lucas Arts College in Colchester for the past seven years.
Ms Haynes, a former pupil of Harwich High School, lives in the college catchment area and her two children are students there in the upper school and in the sixth form.
She was also senior teacher at the college when it was Tendring School.
Ms Haynes said she was particularly excited by the school's technology status, which allows more funds to be made available for technology subjects. Her present school received arts college status in 2002.
