The Government will be approached for more funds to improve the bus facilities in Braintree, a leading Essex county councillor has confirmed.
Rodney Bass, cabinet minister for highways and transportation, revealed the council will be placing a number of bids in an attempt to revamp the facilities in and around the town centre.
His comments were in response to calls from district councillor for Bocking North Tony Everard for a complete revamp of the facilities and systems which support the town's bus routes.
Mr Everard claims the bus park in Victoria Street and bus shelters need to be improved as well as one central point needed in the town for drop-offs and pick-ups.
Mr Bass said similar complaints have been aired around the county and that Essex County Council has been trying to secure additional funding from the Government for a scheme called the quality bus partnership.
