A stroke club has closed after more than 20 years.
Frinton, Walton and Kirby Stroke Club has been responsible for helping dozens of victims on the road to recovery.
Those affected by loss of speech, mobility and loss of independence have met regularly.
The club, which was affiliated to the Stroke Association, was launched in May 1981.
Rosemary Spong has been secretary throughout and founder member Peg Coote has been chairman for the past seven years. Before that, Margaret Titford was chairman and continued to give support as vice-chairman.
Mrs Titford paid tribute to the chairman and committee.
The remaining £700 for the club's fund has been handed over to Clacton Stroke Club.
