An airgun was found in the luggage of a passenger at Stansted Airport today.
Police are questioning a man after the airgun was found in his luggage at the Essex airport, which sees thousands of passengers pass through its doors each week.
The gun, designed to fire ball bearings, was discovered during routine passenger security checks, police revealed today.
A spokesman for the airport, said: "The man was stopped by security staff at 4.40am this morning going through the security processes."
He was arrested by police on suspicion of being in possession of a prohibited article.
The man is believed to be British, 44-years-old, and is thought to have been travelling alone at the time.
