The owner of a rescue dog has been ordered to have it on a lead in public after it lunged at two women.
The German Shepherd dog was spotted by the two friends as it sniffed at black bags in Bellsize Avenue, Jaywick.
Shini Cooksey, prosecuting, said the dog came towards them barking and started snarling and lunged towards one of them, who pulled her arm back out of reach.
The dog's owner, Karen Carter, 39, of Bellsize Avenue, Jaywick, admitted being the owner of a dog which was not under proper control.
David Howell, mitigating, said she had taken all reasonable steps to prevent such an incident happening again.
Colchester magistrates yesterday ordered that the dog be kept under proper control and be kept on a lead in public places. Carter was ordered to pay a £100 fine, with £70 costs.
