The first ever art director appointed at Cornelius Vermuyden School in Canvey hopes to brighten the lives of students, adult learners and future artists.

Andrew Barry, 38, will also be oversee the creation of a £182,750 arts centre at the school, which was awarded arts college status last year.
The centre is set to include a gallery and exhibition space.
Andrew, a former head of art at Moulsham High School in Chelmsford, said: "This is a very challenging role as we want to be able to really involve the wider community as well as our students."
