Delighted staff and students at Thundersley's King John School were celebrating today as school league tables revealed they were top of the Castle Point class.

The school, in Shipwrights Drive, topped the 2003 secondary performance tables for 15-year-olds achieving five or more A to C GSCEs and GNVQs.
However, while 64 per cent of the 311 youngsters sitting the exams achieved the benchmark five A to C grades, this figure was slightly down on last year's 67 per cent.
Headteacher Margaret Wilson said: "We are very proud of these results."
