The planned sites of four special classrooms for pupils with special needs in mainstream Southend schools have been revealed.
Last March, Southend Council was handed £1.4million from the Department for Education and Science for the development of four special bases in the town.
Bosses say this will allow more choice for parents and children with special needs and allow for more opportunities for the youngsters.
One was originally planned for Porters Grange School in Southchurch Avenue but this was ruled out because there was not sufficient space at the Victorian school's cramped home.
Discussions with Bournes Green infants and junior schools were dropped after the two headteachers jointly said they were not interested in taking part.
The council's schools organisation committee will be told the final agreement will mean places at:
Darlinghurst Primary School - ten places for children with social, emotional and behavioural development needs
Temple Sutton Primary School - ten places for children with a range of learning needs and physical/sensory needs
Prittlewell Technology Centre - 20 places for children with a range of learning needs and physical/sensory needs
Shoeburyness High School - 20 places for children with a range of learning needs and physical/sensory needs.
