Summer is a long way off - but Thurrock's cricketers are already honing their bat and ball skills.
The borough indoor cricket competition series starts on Sunday. And despite the winter gales, the covered season of Sunday and midweek matches should provide locals with plenty to chances to shine.
The indoor format is 12-over-a-side matches, with teams comprising just six players. Matches are usually played at a frenetic pace with the emphasis on quick scoring and agressive fielding.
Competition for the two series starts on starts at Grays School on Sunday, January 11 and Thursday January 15.
Eight clubs take part in the Sunday competition, with all the teams playing each other once and the competition concluding on March 14.
