Hadleigh Junior School, in Church Lane, has been linked with a primary school in rural Uganda, whom they now plan to raise funds for.
Students were today working on making their first contact with their new school pals, who enjoy none of the luxuries they are used to.
Deputy headteacher, Dave Evans said: "The school in Uganda is very underprivileged.
"We will be holding fundraising events for them here and our children will write to children out there.
"The first contact will be by homemade cards."
