Southend United defender Leon Cort is hoping to score his first goal of the season tonight as the struggling Shrimpers visit relegation rivals Cheltenham Town.

And Cort, who netted seven times during the previous campaign, is confident of ending his eight-month barren spell at Whaddon Road this evening as the Blues bid to bounce back from last Saturday's disappointing 1-1 draw with Scarborough.
"I've been unlucky in front of goal lately but hopefully that will change tonight," said the former Millwall man.
"I've had a couple disallowed and a few cleared off the line so it's been frustrating. We've been working on set pieces in training though, and Mark Gower and Kevin Maher are both putting some fine crosses into the box, so hopefully it won't be long before I get on the score-sheet."
The lowly Robins, who crashed to a 2-0 defeat at Roots Hall in August, currently sit just once place above the Blues, and Cort was quick to stress the importance of this evening's encounter.
"They're fighting for points just like we are, so it's a big game for both teams," said the 24-year-old.
"It will be a hard, battling match because they're in a similar situation to us at the moment, but we fancy our chances against them tonight."
Blues will be missing striker Tes Bramble (hamstring) and defender David McSweene (suspended).
