Youngsters have once again breathed life into a pre-school unit forced to close last year due to lack of support.
Headteacher Angela Savill, who joined North Crescent Primary School, North Crescent, Wickford, in September, said she was confident the Early Years Unit, which takes on four-year-olds to prepare them for full-time infant school, could look to a brighter future.
Disappointed staff were left with no choice but to close the self-contained unit with computers, art and cooking sections as well as facilities for English, maths and science, after no children enrolled for two terms.
Mrs Savill said: "I am absolutely delighted that after two terms of being closed the unit is up and running again.
"We only have eight children at the moment but we have more joining us at Easter.
"It is really lovely for the children as when they start at the school they are not scared and have met all the other children - it is just a continuation for them."
