Where are you, Beauty? Colchester falconer Richard Wiper tracked his harris hawk for miles after a sighting of the feathered fugitive in Greenstead.
His four-year-old bird of prey flew off from his home in Defoe Crescent on Friday, December 19 nearly three weeks ago.
Most days since then, the 19-year-old bird lover has followed up sightings of Beauty all around the area, but without success.
Yesterday's four-hour pursuit started when a woman called the fire brigade after spotting the hawk in Goring Road.
Realising the owner would have the best chance of catching the bird, the firefighters asked control room staff to phone Richard.
