Safety around a community centre has been improved with the help of a £5,000 grant.
The money has been used to put new lighting around the Vange North Community Centre in Vange Hill Drive and cut down overgrown bushes in the area.
Caroline Kaldani Betfarhad of Vange SRB said: "Vange SRB secured the £5,000 Communities Against Drugs funding just before Christmas.
"As well as the lighting, we have worked in partnership with Basildon Council to have the thickets removed which will also increase visibility. Hopefully the measures will stop young people from waiting around there, which should reduce drug taking and vandalism."
