Police have seen a big drop in anti-social behaviour calls after targeting hot spots in an area of Colchester.
The southern community policing team (CPT), which covers Shrub End, has been picking out problem areas and monitoring them.
The approach seems to have worked, with a drop in calls of up to a half in some of the hot spots.
Insp Keith Jones, of the southern CPT, said: "It is reassuring that calls for police have been reduced by as much as 50 per cent in some areas. The future looks promising."
The subject of anti-social behaviour in Shrub End is coming up later this month at a police-run public meeting.
