A motorcyclist was today being treated in hospital for serious head and back injuries following a crash at Sadlers Farm which caused traffic mayhem.
The male rider of a blue and white Suzuki GSX bike lost control heading towards London at the Benfleet roundabout at 7.15am.
He was thrown from his bike as it hit the central roundabout. Police and ambulance crews were called.
The man, thought to be local, was taken to Basildon Hospital by paramedics.
A spokesman for Essex police said: "The rider lost control and hit the central reservation kerb at the main junction of the Sadlers Farm roundabout on the A13."
