Colchester's walk-in medical centre could be housed in the former Royal London offices.

The building, in Middleborough, is the first choice location for the new unit.

Colchester Primary Care Trust's board discussed plans for the centre at its meeting.

The facility, which will be set up using a £400,000 capital grant from the Government, should reduce accident and emergency waiting times and take pressure off GPs.

It would provide treatment and advice for patients with illness or minor injuries.
