Basildon Hospital has become one of the first trusts in the country to sign up to a new university-like partnership.
Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Trust has joined forces with the NHSU - the new corporate university for the NHS - to help deliver education and training opportunities for those who work for and with the NHS.
Designed to make a key contribution to the development and modernisation of health and social care through the provision of learning opportunities, the partnership will provide access to many of the first programmes and services.
Basildon and West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust are the first to join the scheme, which was piloted in November and is due to pilot again in February.
Jayne Toplis, Basildon Hospital's NHSU and clinical leadership facilitator, said: "Our partnership with NHSU is part of the trust's wider commitment to ensure learning opportunities are available to all our staff."
