A cash boost worth thousands of pounds has been pledged towards a major new tourist attraction for Harwich.
The East of England Development Agency has awarded £9,000 towards the Harwich Railway and Shipping Museum.
The cash will go towards producing a business plan, which will show how the museum idea would work.
If built, the Harwich Railway and Shipping Museum would be one of the largest and most comprehensive centres of its kind in the country.
The total cost of the project is estimated at £200,000.
The East of England Development Agency (EEDA) wants to see a business plan so it can decide whether to invest in the scheme further.
Bernie Sadler, Harwich Society chairman and a co-ordinator of the museum, said EEDA had already given £4,500 of the grant and would pay the other half on completion of the plan.
