Safety measures are to be reviewed after a pensioner plunged 20ft to her death off a seafront promenade.
Eileen Grellier, 85, was on her mobility scooter when it toppled over the edge, near the Chase, at Holland-on-Sea as she took her dog for a walk.
She suffered head, neck, shoulder and arm injuries and was airlifted to Colchester General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Her daughter, Eileen Goodman, has called for barriers to be installed to prevent further accidents and the situation is to be looked at.
Mike Page, public relations manager for Tendring Council, promised the circumstances surrounding the accident would be studied carefully to see if anything could be done to improve safety.
He said: "At this stage we only have very sketchy details of what appears to be a dreadful accident.
"The family of Mrs Grellier have our deepest sympathy."
He added council officers would be discussing the situation with the police investigating officer.
