A courageous 14-year-old Hutton girl and her mother have said a huge thank you to friends, family and neighbours who have rallied round to help while she has been receiving treatment for cancer.
Rebecca Allen, of Wid Close, was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease last April, and has been undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy at Southend General Hospital. Her mother Kay said they had been touched by acts of kindness shown by many people.
One friend organised a street party in Hammonds Lane, Brentwood, for Rebecca before she started her treatment, and neighbour Jackie Higgins organised a raffle, raising £110 for her.
Rebecca, a student at the Brentwood Ursuline Convent High School, also thanked the staff who have treated her in hospital.
