A woman in her seventies lost £27,000 worth of cash and jewellery when bogus callers conned their way into her home.
The thieves made off with a safe box packed full of cash plus expensive jewellery of great sentimental value.
The 74-year-old woman, from Southend, opened her door to two men who claimed to be from the water board.
One of the men is described as white, well-built, aged 25 to 35, 5ft 10ins, with a local accent, short dark hair, with a multi-coloured brown jumper, blue jeans and black shoes.
