The victim of a terrifying robbery in which thugs threatened her with kitchen knives has spoken of her ordeal for the first time today.
The 18-year-old, who has asked not to be named, and a 20-year-old colleague were attacked while working in a Benfleet newsagent on New Year's Day. Two youths walked into Laceys at 9.20pm and waved 12in-long knives at the distressed shop assistants.
The 18-year-old victim said: "I was doing the cleaning and chatting to my co-worker when two men walked in.
"The first I knew something was wrong was when she started shouting 'Oh my God, please don't hurt me'.
They said they wanted the money so we just emptied the tills and put it in these blue pouches for them. They were saying stuff like 'Thanks babes, don't worry you've still got your jobs'. It was all very strange and scary".
The men left the store on Kents Hill Road with more than £200 in cash, 14 packets of cigarettes and ten bags of tobacco.
