Improved Billericay Town took their recent Ryman Premier run to just one defeat in five games by sharing the spoils at a Hayes side who went into the match standing fourth.

Manager Justin Edinburgh made changes to both formation and team selection with a 5-3-2 line-up, after a slow start, almost drawing first blood when Leon Hunter burst through to force Jake Cole in the home goal to tip the ball round a post.

Billericay lost star goal man Danny Hockton through injury after 34 minutes, Jordan Tolan taking over, but were not to be denied and took a 39th-minute lead.

A good counter-attack saw Gary Henty run into the box where he was unceremoniously hacked down by Adam Everitt, who was lucky to escape with only a booking.

After lengthy treatment to Henty, Hunter stepped up to ram home an unstoppable penalty.

Town were again slow out of the blocks after the break and Hayes got on terms after 50 minutes when Sam Taylor lost possession and defender Luke Graham unfortunately headed into his own net.
