Judgment day looms over a plot of land in Cressing earmarked for a permanent car park.
Braintree Council officers have recommended permission be given for the site at Ashes Field, in The Street, Cressing, to be used as a permanent car park, and for an extension of the times of use.
But some in the area fear an increased risk of road accidents if permission is granted.
Members of Braintree area committee will meet on Tuesday to consider the application by John Pease Motors, of Ashes Garage, across the road from the site, for continual use of the land as a permanent car park and use on Sundays from 10am to 4pm.
Letters of objection to Braintree Council raise concerns including the expansion of the garage and an increased risk of road accidents, through traffic movements and limited road visibility because of parked vans and cars.
