Green-fingered helpers have been teaming up together to do a garden makeover for people with learning difficulties.
Residents of Earlham Mews, Oakley Road, Dovercourt, were disappointed when building work to their homes left their gardens in a bad way.
But then Colchester Hospital Mencap League of Friends stepped in with funds to make it a better place for the 29 people living there.
Together with about ten helpers from Colchester Centurion Rotary Club, they are transforming the gardens of the nine bungalows.
So far, Janet Bennett, secretary of the league of friends, said two of the plots are on their way to completion.
One has become a sensory garden and another has special tubs of plants, which can be moved to allow wheelchair access.
