A pensioner is lucky to be alive after her car flipped into a roadside stream in Dedham.
The woman, who is in her 70s, had to be rescued through the back window of her Nissan Micra after the accident left it upside down in inches of water.
Miraculous - the driver of this car, aged in her 70s, did not suffer serious injury, but could have drowned had the water been deeper. Picture: ROB SAMBROOK
Mystery surrounds the crash, because there are no known eye witnesses and the driver, from Felixstowe, who was visiting relatives, was not sure how it happened.
When ambulance personnel, firefighters and police got to the scene, the car was on its roof with the driver trapped inside.
Leading firefighter Peter Goody said firefighters from Colchester's green watch smashed the car's back window to get to the driver.
