A man with part of a chisel buried in his arm was today still in hospital waiting for surgery - two days after he was promised an operation.
John Southam, of Craven Avenue, Canvey, has been on a drip after he arrived at Basildon Hospital three days ago.
The dad-of-three was installing underground cables on Monday when an accident left a 2in-long metal shard wedged in his arm.
