A reminder is being made to Clacton carnival-goers and motorists to keep safe as the procession takes place.
The carnival procession will take its regular route along West Road and Marine Parade then through the streets in the town and back along the seafront towards Holland-on-Sea on Saturday
Acting Inspector Alan Beckett, of Clacton police, who is one of the officers organising the policing of the event, said: "We want everyone to have an enjoyable and safe time."
Police are joining the carnival organisers in asking people not to throw coins at the floats.
Donations for charity can be dropped in buckets as collectors walk the length of the carnival instead.
