Maldon Town Council has renewed its support for a campaign to reintroduce traffic restrictions in Wantz Road.
Chairman of the meeting Peter Roberts told members of the Wantz Road Area Residents Group the town council would back them "100 per cent" if they asked for no entry barriers at the junction with the High Street to be reinstated.
Entry into Wantz Road was stopped in a trial scheme introduced in 1999, but last year - despite residents protests - the barriers were removed and traffic was admitted once more.
Essex County Council said the trial had moved congestion into surrounding roads so the problems were no better.
