An adventurous pair of donkeys who escaped from their paddock and headed for a supermarket have been reunited with their owner.
Safe and sound - donkeys Polly and Daisy are reunited with Becky Taylor, daughter of owner Gail, at Lathcoats Farm, Chelmsford Picture: STEVE BAINBRIDGE
Polly, 26, and Daisy, 19, slipped out of Lathcoats Farm in Beehive Lane, Chelmsford, at 5.30am yesterday.
Onlookers watched in amazement as the crafty creatures roamed the streets.
But it wasn't long before the long-arm of the law stopped them in their tracks and brought an end to their day trip.
Police officers intercepted the fugitives as they made their way toward Tesco's in Princes Road.
