Teen anglers Mark Smith and Chris Warren took a bumper 80lb-plus haul of bream and tench when they fished the Northlands Park road lake.
The duo fished the road bank setting up in the first two swims past the spawning pool, and using swim feeder tactics and strawberry groundbait they soon had shoals of bream and tench queuing up for their offerings.
Red and white maggot cocktails kept the fish interested throughout the day, with the two 15 year olds netting more than 20 big bream and nine quality tench between them.
Carp angler Rob Mayes dusted off his rods after a five month lay-off and promptly landed a 20lb-plus specimen on his first trip.
Fishing the Northlands Park road lake, he tempted the 21lb 4oz common carp on a homemade boilie. The fish came less than half an hour after he had noticed several big specimens moving over his baited area.
Thirteen-year-old Jamie Woodward more than doubled the size of his previous personal best carp when he tempted a cracking common of 20lb at Northlands, fishing the middle spitway where he tempted the big fish with a strawberry boilie cast to the reeds.
