A former Braintree schoolgirl is hoping to join famous names in stand-up comedy by making it to the final of a competition at the Edinburgh Festival.
Jolie Pierce has made it through to the second round of the Channel 4 So You Think You're funny? stand-up comedy competition, to be held at the Edinburgh Festival on August 12.
The 24-year-old, who went to Alec Hunter High School, is hoping to make it to the final, where past winners include Peter Kay, Dylan Moran and Rhona Cameron, while Johnny Vegas, Ardal O'Hanlon and Ed Byrne have been finalists.
And just by getting to the final, there is a good chance of getting an agent and television work, she said.
