A proud mother has described the "happiest day of her life" as her son returned from fighting in the Gulf to a rapturous family welcome.
Linda Barker, from Pound Lane, Laindon, said it has been "hell" while her 18-year-old son Daniel, who was the youngest on his ship, embarked on his first tour of duty since joining the Navy.
But she was "elated" as he arrived back home.

The 45-year-old said: "The last four months have been hell. I was devastated when he left and watched every 6 o'clock news on the war in Iraq.
"I am just elated he is back. It was the happiest day of my life."
