A nine-month water leak in a road at Bradwell, near Braintree, is set to be fixed.
Essex County Council is taking action to stop a leak in Hollies Road, off the A120 at Bradwell.
Last month, the Evening Gazette told how Tony Perkins, 54, of Braintree Road, Tye Green, said water had been coming out of the pothole for nine months, and was dangerous when it iced over in winter.
Anglian Water said it was not mains water and Mr Perkins thought the water may have been coming from a natural spring.
But a spokeswoman for Essex County Council today said investigations found a leaking old clay pipe.
"We will be excavating and replacing a section of the pipe and we have scheduled a road closure from the 11th of August for five days, during which time we will carry out the work."
