Intense checks have confirmed there is no need for drastic speed reduction measures in a Benfleet street.
Silent roadside monitoring in Thundersley Park Road, carried out by Castle Point Council, has revealed vehicle speeds range between 28 mph and 35 mph - indicating there is no major speeding problem.
The checks took place after residents expressed fears that motorists were constantly ignoring the 30mph speed limit.
Castle Point Council's director of technical services, Nigel Thomas, confirmed there was no problem.
He said: "The speeds recorded did not indicate there is a problem, as a consequence we are not looking at putting into action a major scheme."
