A below-par batting performance proved to be pace-setting Wickford's undoing as they suffered only their second defeat of the season - losing again to Brentwood.
"Their Aussie spinner was too good for us and we played some poor shots," said skipper Mark Evans.
Matthew Bates (3-36) and Darren George (3-49) were the most successful bowlers for Wickford, who are still 28 points clear of Brentwood at the top of the table.
Ian Letch (36) and Chris Gladwin (20) were the only batsmen to make headway against Australian spin king Paul Sutherland, who destroyed Wickford with 6-3
