Three road-users had an amazing escape from a freak accident which blocked the A12.
A BMW Z3 sports car travelling north on the Kelvedon bypass had a tyre blow-out and swerved into the outside lane, colliding with a motorcycle and forcing the bike and rider into the central crash barrier.
The car then overturned and came to rest blocking both lanes of the northbound carriageway, just after noon yesterday.

The motorcyclist was taken to hospital for checks but was not seriously injured.
The occupants of the car, a man and a woman, were uninjured. Police said both were wearing seatbelts.
