Holland-on-Sea residents have overwhelmingly voted against a proposed health centre in Clacton.
The results of a survey, when residents had the chance to vote in a referendum sanctioned by Holland Residents' Association, were revealed at a public meeting held to debate the projected development.
The plan for the centre, to be based in Kennedy Way, got only 69 votes in favour compared to 2,206 against - the proposal included the removal of existing surgeries in Holland.
Hugh Morrison, chairman of the Residents' Action Group which is opposing the plans, was delighted with the outcome of the referendum.
"The result is overwhelming and will be of great help in our cause," he said.
