Ongar's negative tactics left Basildon & Pitsea skipper Paul Ayres frustrated as his team were forced to settle for a draw.
Basildon batted first and made 227-8 from 49 overs, with Keiron Sangarni (52), Mark Amos (38) and Frank McLeod (25) leading the run gathering.
But Ongar only sent down 14 overs an hour as A Brown emerged as their best bowler with 5-52.
The hosts then shut up shop in reply as they mustered 170-5 off 48 overs. Stuart Jones (38) and M Clark (44) scored the most, while Sangarni (3-60) and Michael Gray (2-54) took the wickets.
"We lost the toss and that was it, the game was over," said Ayres. "They slowed it down as much as possible and it was a complete waste of time. I accept they are bottom of the league and struggling.
"We have been in the doldrums for years but we have always tried to play positively."
