Speculators who are selling off plots of green belt land near Great Wakering have been told by Rochford District Council they cannot put caravans on them or build fences.
Planning committee members agreed to remove the rights of the owners of the land off Poynters Lane under the General Development Order which would allow this work to be done without planning permission.
At the moment, the land has been staked out as plots and is being offered for sale as possible future development land.
Owners have said the land is in the Thames Gateway area and could become available in the future.
Colin Seagers (Con, Great Wakering) said the issue was a major concern in Great Wakering and he hoped the council would take the strongest action it could.
