Traffic calming measures outside a Benfleet school are on the "to do" list for Castle Point councillors.
Parents and staff at Jotmans Hall Primary School, in the High Road, are set to join the Safer Journeys to School scheme - funded by Essex County Council.
Jotmans' teachers, parents and children will come together with Essex County Council, Castle Point Council and the borough's road safety team to devise a project plan to help youngsters travel to and from school as safely as possible.
Nigel Thomas, the council's director of technical services, said: "Jotmans has let us know they are keen to be involved in the Safer Journeys to School scheme and we are now looking to devise a project plan with them.
"We will meet with people from the school to talk about relevant issues - and we pay particular attention to what the children have to say and any ideas they have.
"At this stage it is very hard to say what we will actually be doing with them as every school is different and has different needs."
