Dilapidated flats in Rochford are set for a revamp.
Rochford District Council has agreed improvements for flats in Rochford Garden Way.
The flats, built in the 1950s, are suffering from concrete damage to window surrounds and poor external insulation.
Work, which includes converting two empty shops to bedsit properties for letting, will begin in August and is expected to end in November.
A public footpath which runs through the central block will remain open and residents will not have to move out during the refurbishment.
