Police leading the hunt for the killer of murdered Clacton widow Jean Dicker are disappointed with the public response to their latest appeal for help.
Mrs Dicker's son, Steve, and daughter, Tracy Kinton, faced a press conference on the six-month anniversary of their mother's death and pleaded for anyone with information to come forward.
But Det Supt Gareth Wilson said it failed to trigger the sort of response he had hoped for.
"We were disappointed by the very few calls into the incident room following the press conference," he said.
"We were hoping that the emotional pleas by both Steve and Tracy would have tugged at the hearts of people in Clacton. We will now continue with our inquiries as before."
Mr Wilson added officers are no longer trying to trace the driver of a white camper van seen in the area of Craigfield Avenue on the day of the murder.
However, they do still want to trace someone in a grey anorak seen walking along the road on a number of occasions.
Anyone who can help should call the incident room on 01206 762122 in confidence
