A robber held a knife to a woman's face and threatened to cut her during the first of two robberies in Colchester
The attacker, who struck in the early hours of today, told his traumatised victim to hand over all her money after approaching her in the street.
The attack is believed to have happened in Artillery Street in New Town and the culprit drove off towards the town centre in a small red vehicle.
He was described as in his 30s, about 5ft 8ins tall with a medium build and short, dark brown hair,
Two hours later a second robbery victim, a man, was found dazed on the ground at the junction of Lexden Road and Sussex Road in Lexden.
He told police he had been hit on the head by someone who stole cash from him.
Detectives were due to question both victims today to gather more information and said the two attacks could have been the work of the same robber.
