A pair of quick-witted rescuers have spoken about the day they saved the life of a 15-year-old Halstead school pupil.
Georgina Cook, 50, of Sandmartin Crescent, Stanway, and Alice Moore, 20, of Hawkwood Road, Sible Hedingham, who both worked at the Halstead Sports and Leisure Centre, helped save the life of pupil Simon Reynolds last year.
Simon collapsed while playing football at Ramsey School, Colne Road, Halstead, a day after the school term ended in December.
His friends alerted staff at the nearby sports centre and the two members of staff leapt into action, giving the pupil the kiss-of-life and heart massages.
This week, their efforts were rewarded by the Royal Humane Society, which gave out resuscitation certificates to the pair.
Mrs Cook said: "I felt I was just doing my job. Being a first aider means it is something you just do automatically."
Simon is now recovering at home with his mother, Ginny, father, Fred and sister, Jessica, 18.
