Shoppers in Southend High Street had the chance to have a graduation photo taken without taking a single exam.
A larger than life picture postcard was put up outside the Essex University centre, Princess Caroline House, as part of a campaign to make people aware the town now has its own "university by the sea."
The university commissioned Benfleet artist Sharon Ainsley to make a photographic fun board, which will go up on various occasions throughout the summer.

She said: "As Southend is a seaside town we are embracing the heritage of what an English seaside is all about.
"We already have our own sticks of rock, and now we have a photographic fun board where people can come and have pictures of themselves dressed in a cap and gown without studying a jot."
